Bielsko-Biala/Poland, October 11th, 2010 - The silicon intellectual property (IP) provider, Evatronix SA, announces today its high performance SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Device Controller IP core has been officially certified by USB Implementers Forum, the organization behind the USB standards, as fully compatible with the final revision of the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 specification. Evatronix has been awarded the certificate after passing all interoperability, backward compatibility and electrical tests during the official 74th USB–IF Certification Workshop in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan last month.
“The certification is yet another evidence for the excellent technical expertise of our engineers,” says Wojciech Sakowski, President of Evatronix. “But even more important, our customers now have the security to work with a core that is guaranteed to fully meet the tough USB 3.0 specification requirements. This cuts design costs and precious development time at their end even further.”
The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Device Controller from Evatronix is a complete digital IP solution that matches the very strict USB-IF criteria for specification compliance.
With certified backward compatibility and support for USB 2.0 High-Speed transfer rate, the controller is guaranteed to work with all USB hosts that utilize either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 connection. Combination of SuperSpeed and High Speed data paths frees designers from integration risks as well as significantly reduces engineering effort and silicon area, let alone the much better power economy compared to the implementation of separate solutions.
The Evatronix SuperSpeed USB 3.0 controller provides all the power management enhancements defined by the standard. These include link power management for significant savings when idle, elimination of continuous device polling, as well as both device and individual function level suspend capabilities for power removal from parts or all of the device's circuitry.
"Since the development of our first USB controller IP in the year 2000, we have always followed and adopted the USB specifications in the shortest possible timeframe,” said Dariusz Kaczmarczyk, USB Product Line Manager at Evatronix. “The official USB-IF certification confirms complete compliance of our IP core with the current USB 3.0 specification and further secures first pass success for our customers."
